Ice Age Scenic Trail

Trail Map

ICE AGE NATIONAL SCENIC TRAIL - Northwestern WI

The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a perfect snowshoeing destination. The glaciers that pushed through Wisconsin left their distinct mark on the landscape—in fact, Wisconsin is the best place in the country to see the effects of the glaciers. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail was designed to showcase a wide variety of glacial formations, making it a trail that’s full of scenic variety. The rock outcroppings you’ll see are quartzite, unique to the Blue Hills and are estimated by geologists to be 1.6 billion years old! Don’t miss the wonderful discoveries you’ll find along the way. Cross-country skiing is also allowed on the trail. There are many points to access the trail. One convenient access point to the trail can be found in Haugen, a town just 5 miles north of Rice Lake off Hwy 53.
